What's Kyoto Winter Special?

Only During Kyoto Winter Special 2008 - Hidden cultural heritage sites, normally not open to the public, will be open for viewing during the event. Ten spots will open their cultural heritages to the public for 9 weeks, from January 12-March 18,2008(*excluding To-ji Temple's Kanjo-in). All viewings are for culturally valuable items. This is a wonderful opportunity for gaining a deeper understanding of Kyoto's culture.
*Some temples may be closed for Buddhist service without notice.
*On-site guidance is available in Japanese.

Facilities list

Period of opening to the public
9 weeks, from January 12 – March 18, 2007. *Toji Temple Kanjo-in Temple will open from January 20.
Time of opening to the public
10:00 – 16:00*Toji Temple Pagoda, Chishaku-in Temple are open from 9:00 – 16:00, Toji Temple Kanjo-in Temple is open 9:30 – 16:00, and Rokuharamitsuji is open 9:00 – 16:30.
Admission fees
600 yen (10% discount for groups over 15). *Please note that Toji Temple Pagoda and Chishaku-in Temple are 800 yen (includes normal admission)

Chishaku-in Temple The bold “Sakura”, centered around Japan’s renowned cherry trees, was painted by Tohaku Hasegawa’s son Kyuzo when he was 25.

Rokudochinno-ji Temple
